Re: Update!

Just a bit of info for those that are interested about the update.

We have play tested the Level 1 Monster table for the Old World, it seems relatively sound. Also, we have done a bit of play testing with Lustrain table Level 2. Levels 1, 3 and 4 have yet to be tested fully, but they follow the same system that we used to create the play tested ones, so they should be ok... Any feedback about them being too powerful or too weak would be greatly appercited. Thanks to everyones help on the message board, a level 1 Norsca table shouldn't be too far off in the future. Also, all the Monsters encountered on the tables are either originals, or are taken from Andrew's Monsters which are available on this site.

The Merchant character is now a lot more powerful to bring him up to mark with most of the other official characters out there. Once you get him off the ground, he has the potential to be a very powerful asset, what with his easy access to gold and treasure and his skills which allow him to get equipment a lot easier than other warriors. He is intended to be a supporting character for the party, so instead of assisting them with healing and magic like other supporting characters, he will have a good stream of treasure cards which he can divy up amonsgt the other warriors. Hopefully... If he isnt too greedy....

As for the Necromancer character, we know, there are already lots of other versions of Necromancers out there, some of which are really cool! We started creating this dude ages ago, and then all these other necromancer characters were relesased and we thought, 'damm, we wern't quick enough' emoticon But about 3 years later, we thought, 'what the hell, you can never have enough necromancers' so we updated him and now here is he for all to enjoy. Or go, 'this guy sucks' or whatever you want. He has been playtested to a degree, but as usual, feedback would be greatly appreciated. He is different from your average undead summoning necromancer, as in he has a lot of dealings with the chaos gods as well as Nagash, just for a bit of variety.

One final note. If you want to use the Lustrian board sections, you are going to have to get a bigger gaming table. Some of them are HUGE!

Re: Update!

As far as the Merchant class goes, I have a low-level Merchant that's a popular character (He originally was a joke I produced when a female Grey Wizard rolled the Marriage Settlement event; she married the disgusting sod so that she wouldn't have to leave the City before leveling! Since then I play him off and on as he tries to keep an eye on his adventuresome wife)...
I will use your new events and stuff, but I don't feel the need to use the more powerful version, as I actually like that he's a weak support character with two Lackeys. Usually, he's hiding in the back, but when he feels the need to step forward and do something heroic, everyone's cheering... Not every class needs to be as powerful as the Pit Fighter! Either way, the Merchant is a great addition to the game! (I use a Reaper mini that's perfect for him, even better than any of the Citadel merchants; he's painted up with a florid, flushed complexion)

Re: Update!

Thanks for the comments about the Merchant. Glad to see someone having fun playing him! (BTW, which Reaper miniature do you use for him?) When we updated him, we only made him slightly more powerful in that we got rid of some of the weaker skills and added a few new ones, and marginally increased his stats.

As Michael mentioned, he is still only designed to be a support character, but we felt that 2 lackeys were too many, and reduced it to 1 bodyguard instead. Previously, on Battle Level 1 with 2 lackeys plus the Merchant, it gave the player 3 attacks!

Also, having 6 characters, we found the dungeon to be slightly crowded. Even more so if one of us had the Dark Secret card where we were accompanied by the Alchemist as well, making a total of 7 characters bumbling about the dungeon! (try fitting all of them in the Flames of Khazla board section!)

Using the old Merchant rules, we had never played a Merchant to greater than Battle level 1, but with the newer rules he managed to progress to BL 3! His most heroic action was killing 2 Chaos Warriors with 1 Attack (and a deathblow), and that was on level 1!

Well, if you look at this picture you'll see one reason I still use 2 Lackeys! Image

The order # is 02548 and the cost is $6.99 for all 3 minis..

my Merchant character is still only level 2 and his name is Heinrich Burglekutt... Anyone in my games is able to take henchmen into the dungeon if they're willing to pay the price, so for me, I'll probably use your updated character but still let the Merchant have two lackeys so that he still has that edge...

What I like about crowded dungeons is this: Henchmen drop like flies because the healers can't keep EVERYONE alive... It adds an element of excitement to the game because the players realize how buff their Warriors are when they see other characters that can't hack it. Eventually characters are forced into moral situations: Should I use my last heal potion on this Wizard's Apprectince? Thanks for the fun character!
