Pirates of Land's Tooth Bay - Linked Adventure(s)

Ok, looking for a group of rpers who want to run a linked adventure. We are gonna use settlements and such, so a lot can be done in this thread itself, to get things started before we will actually start needing dice. So, if you are interested, post your class and your background. If i get a bunch of good apps, i may make multiple games, with different quest lines. So dont think just because I have 4 apps I wont keep looking for more. Alright, here is the public notice that your lvl 1 adventurer would read.

**Your Immediate Attention Needed**

(Under this is the Imperial Seal stamped in wax, dated, and signed by the local lord. Opposite is a blue wolf, standing on the waves, the Sea Wolf, the symbol for the 82nd Naval Legion)

All able-bodied adventurers are required to help found the settlement of Hope's Point. Travel to Swazealand, see the lush jungles and beautiful coasts of Land's Tooth Bay. We are much in need of carpenters, laborers, smiths, herbalists, priests, and mercenaries. No price is too high for those willing to venture to the land's end!

Of particular note is the need for swords for hire. The jungle must be charted and the ruins must be cleared of the Zal'Maki tribe. These fierce jungle trolls practice the dark arts of necromancy, threatening the very safety of the outpost. To be sure, only those with strength, constitution, and wits should apply.

For those that do, contact our recruitment officer, Lt. Gannor Longblade, found out the public house. Do not accept passage from anyone else, as unscrupulous agents of the Blacktar Cartel and Grom'zuk's raiders have kidnapped prospective travellers. Be wary travellers, and book passage only with the Myrmidon. Remember to contact Lt. Longblade for your trip vouchers.

(a dagger is driven through a note directly under this one)

Please, blacktar cartel?! We been Blacktar'z BOYZ ever since day 1. Just because we got the run of land's tooth dont mean we need a fancy name. Guess it just makes the imperials feel all high & mighty. We dont knock people over the head and toss em on a ship. But Grom'zuk does, and watch out for burly orc dockworkers if ye catch my drift. No, Blacktar dont take kind to land lubber sissy types, and most of ye city folk are, so quit reading.

But for my good ole, hard charging, hard drinking, salty dogs, Blacktar can make you rich, and them some. Dont believe me, see the finest bejewelled eyepatch west of Carthay at the docks. Our ship is moored there, look for the bare breasted mastpiece and ye found the Hydra. Just ask for Cutter Johansen and ill get ye aboard. Be warned, if ye dont pull yer weight, mine'll be the first blade in yer back.

(CJ is scrawled underneath, with the infamous skull&bones)

-OOC- So, give me your opinions, make a character, and lets get this thing off the ground. Oh, and to clear things up, please tell us which NPC you are applying to Gannor or Cutter. Lets do a brief bio on both, assuming your character would ask around about them at the alehouse and the docks.

Also, im assuming there are ways to edit character classes to make some npcs or even give characters a custom made class (ONLY if it is pirate related, then we can talk). Anyway. lets go back to the bios.

Gannor Longblade - A humble lieutenant, and master judge of character. His own pride has prevented his advancement, but he would not compromise. An individual who does not stand for something will fall for anything is his motto. His convictions include discipline, valor, and loyalty. He has found his niche in the recruitment arm of the 82nd Naval Legion, aka the Sea Wolves, the navy that is stationed at Hope's Cape. His job involves drilling the small squad assigned to guard him and finding flaws within prospective recruits. Within the first few words, Gannor can tell whether they are fighting material. Those that dont prove up to snuff are usually tossed out, the military has no use for the timid.

Gannor was descended from a line of great knights, and originally started work in the cavalry. His father was the great Connor Longblade, the Lowlander, coming from the tribes on the southern islands. His family was far from the courts of Tilea, and acted as magistrates for the locals in times of war. Their power has grown throughout Longblade's accomplished career. He began in the army, a knight like his father. His unwillingness to comprimise his values would not allow him to show the proper respect to certain superiors that did not follow his strict code. However, his great popularity among the entire company made him an obvious choice for officer. As time progressed, and his small unit drew more and more elite soldiers, the general devised a plan. Having no objections to quietly training and spending his days finding like minded individuals sounded very palatable to him. He was assigned to Altdorf, Praag, and any major city they hadnt covered.

His family's empire had always been agriculture, mostly winemaking. However, it has turned much more to seafaring, trade, and exploration. The new era of technology is beginning in Tilea, and Gannor recognizes the need for enterprise. He has directed family investments towards the shipping routes between Carthay, Ulthuan, Araby, and Lustria, all stretching from the tiny city of Romona, where his lands lay. In the same spirit, he has underwritten a university in the mountains above his village dedicated to science and magic.

In turn, he decided to get a transfer to the Navy. It was only logical that if his family's interests were becoming more naval, that he should make contacts now. Already it has been his interest and investment that fuels the monthly expeditions arriving in Hope's Cape. The navy has taken notice and promoted him to lieutenant, and although he is not a commander, his wealth has brought him a great deal of respect. Gannor wants Cape's Hope to succeed, because the Emperor has sworn that all who serve to establish the colony will recieve some parcel of land in the area. His role of getting adventurers would entitle him to quite a tract of land in the jungle.

He is not particularly interested in becoming a great commander. Instead, he is satisfied with his companionship with his men, the birth of his first son, and leaving a legacy that will remind people of the values he holds dear. Towards the final end, building a trade empire will serve his family well, and generous endowments to the community will better it. On his death bed, Gannor wishes only to look out from his villa onto a thriving town, that was once a tiny hamlet in his childhood.

Cutter Johansen - A salty dog and then some. Cutter woke up at the bottom of a beer barrel at a seedy pub on the docks. He was drowning, and someone was making it even worse by holding his head down in the ale. Kicking was just wearing out his breath, and his pants were falling down. Suddenly the pressure let up, his head rubberbanding with the lack of force. He spit out a pint and choked for air. Behind him, he could hear the furious stomping of tiny feet. Wheeling around, he could see a dwarf and a goblin stomping a hole into his assailant. The dwarf spit all over the battered patron, "No one drowns Blacktar's drinking buddy, unless its in beer, and THEN ONLY when THEY SAY its ok!"

The goblin squealed in laughter, grabbed the patron's coin-purse and boots, and yelled as he ran out the door, "See ya on the ship boss!"

Cutter tried to imagine the exchange between two drunks, a dwarf, and a goblin. But his head ached, and he was out of coin. This was no way to end a bender.

"Ye got a name kid?" The dwarf stared up at him slightly cross eyed, his teeth were as black as tar.

"Yeah, im pretty good with a blade, they call me Cutter, Cutter Johansen."

The dwarf outstretched his hands and shook his vigorously, "Well good to freaking meet ye kiddo, the names Grue Blacktar, Captain Blacktar to ye, and 'Oh Shite Its' Blacktar to those filthy imperial admirals. HAR HAR HAR."

That was 18 years long passed, but its his favorite story, so if you ask about him, you will have heard it more then once. Suffice to say, meeting Blacktar in those circumstances is not unusual, but the shine that the surly dwarf took for the runty human lad was sort of fatherly. Blacktar took him under his direct supervision, until he became first mate. Cutter showed serious skills in the arts of swashbuckling, parrying, disarming, and high flying maneuvers. Eventually Blacktar got tired of being shown up by Cutter's swordsmanship and gave him his own ship. At least that's what he told him. He now commands the Hydra, a fast attack sloop, and is currently searching for a couple of rough and tumbles to round out his crew before he heads back down to Blacktar's Foundry, the pirates outpost.

Well, I don't think a little pirate adventuring would go amiss.

Ahem

Jurgun Fitzhause steps out of the shadows in the port town, and studies the notice with care. It's been three weeks since his last encounter with Enforcer Muntz, but he has no doubt that the policeman has given up looking for him. A change of direction might be useful in throwing off the scent...
The outlaw thinks back to his days as a privateer, driven by desperation and a bitter rage. Perhaps that skill might earn him passage away from his latest pursuer.

So, Jurgan, outlaw:

Will join up with Blacktar's crew.

Captain Cutter looks Jurgun over as he approaches the Hydra. He barely notices all the scally wags that pass by, drunken sailors looking for trouble, but this one has the walk. Cutter could tell an old salt by the confident swagger, but this one had the nervous glance of someone on the run.

The captain was a simple man, deeply sunburned and leathery from years in the open sun, and his eye was indeed covered with a gem-studded patch. He met Jurgun on the gang-plank, "Ye look to be in a bit o trouble me boy-o. My good eye sees that ye know the sting of the blade. Perhaps ye'd be willing to lend me your hands on a voyage to land's end. We'll give ye everything a man needs: grog, food, and good coin. If ye make the trek, Ill introduce ye to Blacktar, who's got some problems with Grom'Zuk and his raiders. Get aboard then son, step lively. See bosun Shermie for your daily grog. And dont mind the gobbos and the orcs, they arent man-eaters, unless its an imperial officer. HAR HAR."

Yay! pirates and exploring islands! emoticon

Jorgaul is an elf traveling the length of the old world, not wanting to settle down. Exploring the wilderness around the cities. On a rare visit to the city he spies the poster. This sounds right up his street but who to pick?

Jorgaul had difficulty deciding which captain to approach but in the end he went with his gut instinct and approached Cutter's ship...

I want to join. I just don't know who as yet. I've more than gone through my mental backlog of character names and interesting backgrounds and my brain hurts to much to think of character historys anyway.
