Slayer's Quest Tomb

Hey y'all!

It has been over a decade, but I'm the guy who used to run the old "Slayer's Quest Tomb" WHQ site. I was 13 or 14 back when I started it, and I've been away from the hobby for quite a long time now but am slowly starting to get back into the swing of things (just bought a new WHQ set on eBay, can't wait to get my grubby mitts all over it!)

I just wanted to drop in and say hi, say I'm really happy that there are still people out there talking about and playing this game, and that I'm very much looking forward to being somewhat involved in the community again.

And also, I was wondering if anyone, anywhere, might have access to a quest I wrote back in those days? I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the quest itself, but it was primarily an Orc adventure in terms of the monsters, featured a large white tower named VALAAY (if I recall) and was used by Dwayne Agin on his HeroQuest site for a PBEM, though I'm not sure if they ever got too far into the quest. Whatever the name of the quest, it would say "written by Leandro Braga" and it's the only quest I ever wrote and put up online.

I would very much like to recover that piece of my childhood and maybe rewrite certain parts of it, if they seem silly in hindsight. If anyone has any leads on this whatsoever, I'd be very much obliged. Unfortunately, most of the files on the old SQT site have been lost (although I still have some, like the Nippon bestiary and Cathayan marketplace).

Again, hey everybody and I'm glad there's still a loyal following to this, my all-time favorite game. By the way, is the old mailing list still active?

Thanks!

- LB

Welcome back to the 'real world' of Warhammer Quest! emoticon

I think the mailing list died before I ever got into the Warhammer Quest community online. I became actively addicted online about five or six years ago.

Well, I did a text search for Leandro Braga (through files) on my computer and only came up with some Warriors I downloaded, and maybe a treasure document of some sort. If you are interested in what I have that has your name on it, here is the list.

archer
cleric
cultist
emissary
halfsquad
herotres

My computer says they are all html files.

I can send you the files in some form if you wish OR I could post them to my own webspace and give you a link to view and possibly download them.

Thanks, guys emoticon

The only warrior class I ever wrote was the Chaos Cultist (which, if anyone has played with one recently, I'd love to hear how it went), but thanks! I am going to eventually have to start re-collecting all the old rules I lost so long ago, like all of Andrew Brockhouse's bestiaries and stuff like that.

Went down to my local game store for the first time since I moved to this town, today. Picked up a couple skeletons, a beastman Gor regiment, an Empire militia regiment since I like to have my warriors fight humans almost as often as monsters, and even a couple blisters of random townsfolk by Reaper miniatures, which I was really happy to find since it's hard to create immersive roleplay environments when you have no female characters and every miniature on the table is waving swords around in the middle of a common marketplace emoticon

Looking forward to talking more with you folks. Any PBEM games currently active or looking for players?

I recently started a quest in honour of the Slayer's Quest Tomb: it's for 4 slayers to explore an area where many Trollslayers have found their dooms. I have written a whole D66 table of slayer-specific treasure as well!

Hey, Thecustodian, whenever you are ready to share that table with the public, let me know! I would love to host it on my site. emoticon

I went back to it yesterday to finish it off. It involves a level of typing, transfering from one device to another, and I also have a table I sketched out in one of my many notebooks... but I can't find it just now. So... I'll let you know.

Pleased to see you, Nachie...

Did you also go by Techpriest at the Slayer's Quest Tomb?

I ask because before Bruno started the the Warhammer Quest Museum the custom Warriors were very often silly or sketchy. When I started getting into the game it was already on its last legs and most of the newer guys that are having great ideas hadn't really gotten started yet.

So my first source for custom characters was the Slayer's Quest Tomb. I would only allow characters to be played in my games if they had the coveted "Techpriest Approved" logo at the top of the page!

Hey BassJam!

Nope, that wasn't me, I always just used my legal name, Leandro. The Chaos Cultist was the only warrior I ever wrote, and of course I was 14 at the time so looking back on it, I'm sure there are maaaaaaany things I would change emoticon

I've been inspired lately and I'm hoping that maybe sometime in the near future I'll be able to get some money together and get a new SQT up and running. WHQ deserves to have a solid and frequently-updated website!

I agree about a lot of the custom warriors being really silly. I've been thinking lately that a nice thing would be if someone came up with a fully-customizable warrior type, who could add to their stats via "training points" like the Pit Fighter does. That way, you could potentially play something like a Rat Catcher who turns into a mighty swordsman over the course of a lifetime, just like in WHFRP. Of course such a character would only be safe in the hands of a good roleplayer, but I think it's worth a shot!
