Faith Points (Witch Hunter)

Was wondering how everyone used Faith Points in their games. The rules state:

The Witch Hunter can use 1 point of Faith to add +1 to any dice roll he makes.

It only makes sense if you could add +1 AFTER rolling the dice.

Is Faith only to be used on "success" oriented rolls, such as To Hit, etc. What about when he rolls on his training tables? And if he can use them there, why not be able to subtract -1 from any rolls?

What are your thoughts on Faith Points?

I only use faith points for things such as combat of any or defence against anything.

I see it as his deity stepping in to help him out.

Re: Faith Points (Witch Hunter)

I allow Faith Points to be used to modify most dice rolls that the Witch Hunter player makes -- To Hit, Damage, Fear Test, rolling on a table in an event, rolling a dice for amount of gold found, and etc...

I allow it to be used in the Dungeon, in Hazards, and in settlements for Events -- probably even for a Stock roll.

However, I do NOT allow Faith Points to be used to modify any random aspect of a Witch Hunter's training when gaining a new Battle-Level.

Neither do I allow any Warrior to use their Luck to re-roll random things when gaining a Battle-Level.

I am still a little UNdecided about whether to allow Faith Points to influence the Witch Hunter's between-levels training that he can get at the Witch Hunter's Guild. Similarly, I think I would allow a Chaos Warrior to use his Luck or a Mark of Chaos to reroll for non-training visits to the Chaos Temple, but even this seems perhaps to be tempting the 'gods' a bit much. emoticon

References above to Luck and to the Chaos Warrior I thought relevant to this topic by way of comparison.

Re: Faith Points (Witch Hunter)

I've been playing the Witchhunter a lot recently, and I really like this warrior. Faith points I use only for to-hit, damage rolls, tests and rolls within certain dungeon and settlement events (i.e. higher roll usually means better result). Unlike luck, his faith should represent his personal determination and iron will to succeed in his mission. So I neither use it like luck (e.g. gold or items found, rolls in Witchhunter Guild etc.) nor for events that affect the entire group (power roll, roll on event and monster tables).
Most of the time I use faith points to increase the to-hit roll (especially with pistol) or to add to damage for finishing off a nasty monster or magic user.
What I'm not quite sure about are magical or healing items, as they could be interpreted as both luck or personal skill in handling the item...
