high res cards scan...anyone please?

hey guys. i don't know if this forum is still active, but i am looking for high res (250-300 dpi/inch)scans of the original whq cards.

since whq prices on ebay are sick, crazy, insane -$600! i decided to print out warhammer stuff..only prob is that all what i have downloaded from the torrent sites are not in high res :-/

i work in printing industry for years so i can make printable pdf for both-sides print including crop marks, bleeds etc.
can anyone supply the scans please?
thanks in advance!

redcore, welcome to the forums.
This is definitely the place for those of us that still like and play WHQ.

With that said, and I am not the moderator or anyone of any local importance, but you are asking for something that will get this site a C&D order from GW-Legal so fast that all of our heads would spin.
You are asking for someone to violate the IP and all other legal issues with the game & GW.

What I would recommend for you is what I do - patience.
Granted, most of my WHQ stuff was picked up back in the day when the game was still in production, but I do still pick up more treasure cards and back-ups for most everything else.
And I pick it all up on eBay!

I am, from what I been told, one of the Originals on eBay (one of the first 500,000 members back when it was only an American concern) from back in the '90s.
Been on there sixteen years this month, in fact.
My feedback rating as of this hour is 899.
I have over 1500 positive feedback, but only a 899 rating because only until fairly recently, no matter how many times you got positive feedback from the same seller, it still only counted as one feedback even if you got from them six months apart or so.
Loved it when eBay finally allowed you multiple feedback from the same party; the stores I had been buying from for years finally counted as more than just one rating!
And as you can conclude, almost all of those 1500+ feedback is for purchases; think I have actually sold maybe five things on eBay and they were all sold over ten years ago.

Any way, if you do exercise patience, and I have to admit it is extreme patience at times, you can pick everything up at fairly reasonable prices for a game that came out 19+ years ago and ceased production only four or so years after that.
Now, what I consider "fairly reasonable" prices is 2-3x suggested retail price.
That means unopened:
Treasure Card Packs at $27 or less;
Character Packs at $45 or less;
Adventure Packs at $90 or less;
The Game at $180 or less.
That does not include Deathblow Magazines, White Dwarf magazines, Citadel Journals, the Pits & Traps set, and other WHQ related items; most of these can usually be acquired at close to suggested retail price on eBay.
The big exception is the Pits & Traps set since there were so few of them marketed and only through the old GW Mail Order system; so if you see an actual (not a facsimile) set out there, they will be 4-6x the old mail order price.
Deathblow magazines can run a little high too, but if you use patience, they come out at a reasonable price every so often.

Hang in there redcore.
I know this was not the answer you wanted, but it was the only answer you could get here and maintain the forum's integrity with GW.
Moreover, this way you can play the game with a smile & no regrets and we all get to keep talking about WHQ here.

Welcome to the Warhammer Quest message board, redcore! I hope you will visit often.

This is an excellent answer from Warrior Monk. This forum is NOT intended to be used to violate any of Games Workshop's IP policy. I do highly recommend Warrior Monk's "patience" strategy for acquiring the original materials.

one of the things I wish I had done, as you mentioned prices, was bought a copy of this game every time I got paid for the year or so it was in GW stores.

now I'd be able to re-sell them for 10x their original value!

(I probably wasted that money on junk food thinking back!)

$600, x10 retail, eh Ed?
Not a chance!
The highest I have seen a sealed WHQ go for on eBay is just over $400 and that was only once!
Almost all of the over $200 ones in any condition on eBay just keep relisting and relisting until the seller exhausts themselves.
The ones that start with an opening bid at or just above suggested retail price which then move steadily up are the ones that sell in two listings or less, sometimes advancing to ridiculous prices.

The old "woulda, coulda, shoulda", eh Ed?
One never seems to have the foresight and/or the money to do something like this.

Re: high res cards scan...anyone please?

Well, I was curious... So, I just now did a search on eBay of "Sold" Warhammer Quest items and found that the original core set has been selling lately from $300 on up to $500.

Also, just the Catacombs of Terror expansion set (one instance of it) sold for $500.

Perhaps the price people are willing to pay is going up more recently.

Those were the high-end prices though. I see that many sets are still selling for under $300.

I think part of the difference in price is that some are unopened, new sets, and others are "complete" or close to complete, but have been used and/or abused in some way.

BUT, it is eBay. If you know how it works, you can get some really good deals with careful, and patient (as Warrior Monk said) bidding auctions in one's desired price range. I am not very patient with auctions myself. emoticon

Oh, by the way, I think the retail price on Warhammer Quest varied a bit, even between game stores in the same city. I think I purchased a new one for about $40 to $48 at one store while another a mile or two away was selling it for $10 to $12 more. That is in 1995. So, yes, in some cases, the prices people are paying would be about 9 to 10 times as much -- still, high end though.

Yes, I forgot the one main set that sold for $499 (a very lucky Dutchman).
But did you look at all of the list?
And you did notice that it was only for the last 90 days?
And did you take a second look sorting by price after time?

Yes, there is the occasional outlier that is off the curve (the $500 LotOL//$350 CofT), but the search (which can only go back 90 days) does not show how many times really that Herman_the_German or BoondockFiction have had no takers on any of their sets over the last two years which are up for sale in 30 day chunks for ridiculous prices.
Or that the most successful auction was in fact the main set with both adventure packs combined.
Many of the higher selling items can have upwards of 23 bids on them to get them up to those prices.
Or that many of the over $400 sales had far more than just the main set in the sale.

In point of fact, I can find only a handful of sales of the main set that sold for over $200 dollars that the deals were not sweetened with either more figures than the main box came with and/or more cards.
Additional dungeon pieces from either WHQ and/or Adv. HQ is also common inclusion in high money sales.

Moreover, most of the higher selling transactions do not even involve the main set at all.
LotOL and CofT appear to sell for much higher prices per unit.
This might be the case because these might have had fewer made or simply fewer sets surviving to be re-sold.

Do not believe me?
Go to eBay.
Go to Advanced Search
Search "warhammer quest"(do not forget the quotation marks) with Completed Listings checked, Results Per Page at 200 and Sort by Price: Highest First.

If you are looking to actually sell WHQ at a high return, it is in fact a fairly dismal picture if you are trying to get a serious pay off regularly.
The most successful WHQ seller, Tarumil, has only sold two main sets in the last 90 days but that time period is only a very limited window to look into.
The picture gets even more dismal if you have been following it for years like I have.
The Mordheim price situation is also getting more bleak as well compared to just three and four years ago.

Yes, WHQ stuff does sell, but it does not sell at large amounts of money at a regular pace or really all that often.

I learned a long time ago that the auction method of buying and selling is generally the more likely method of getting a good deal (as the buyer) AND, for a seller, of getting the best price too. I prefer the Buy It Now method for most of my own purchases, but for something like WHQ, I can see that bidding in auctions is the way to go.

Part of the trouble with some not selling their items might be that they set too high a reserve price (the minimum price a seller will accept -- which an auction must reach in order for a bid to actually qualify to buy the item).

"coulda woulda shoulda"
indeed.
although GW are inconsistent so many of their games are nowhere near as good as they could be.
but WHQ is one of the best
