Introductions Please
Hello, fellow gamers and visitors of the Warhammer Quest message board.
We welcome you to our community!
While it is fine to just dive into the Warhammer Quest discussions, or to post a question after first reading the Posting Suggestions & Rules post (of course), it would be nice for everyone to introduce themselves to the community. Feel free to post here and tell a little about yourself.
Don't know what to say? Well, we tend to be generally interested in where people are (location, like country, state/province, city or town) and what experience they have with Warhammer Quest and other fantasy/fiction gaming.
Just post what you are comfortable with posting (within the rules, of course ).

Re: Introductions Please
Since I am an admin, I will start this topic off by telling some about myself.
My name is Martin. I like to go by "Old Warrior" for most of my online user IDs, but often someone else gets that ID before me!
A citizen of the USA, I live in the state of Indiana. I have lived here for at least 16 or 17 years now. I was born in Germany (yeah the country in Europe) in January 1968, but was reared in Detroit, Michigan, USA, where I spent my first 17 1/2 years.
In 1995, I became acquainted with Warhammer Quest. Since then, I have played the game off and on across the years. Lately, I play Warhammer Quest exclusively in a private online community, where we play at a snail's pace in a sort of PBEM type of setting, though it is hosted online. I mostly play as the GM who does everything that the site is not yet coded to do to make the game work.
I love to create things, especially Warrior characters, for Warhammer Quest. My latest project (not yet complete at the time of this post) is a Priest of Ranaald, based upon information found in the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd ed. source books.
My involvement in the forums and coding of my own Old Warrior's Stronghold all goes back to the fateful day that I said "Yes" to Bruno's invitation to join the online WHQ gaming community. Bruno, if you read this, remember I first tried to say NO!

Re: Introductions Please
my name is Eddie, I live in England and am 38.
I started playing choose your own adventure books around 8 years old, (ian livingstone and steve jackson, later lone wolf by joe dever) later I moved to dungeoneer which is a basic role playing game of the same style.
when I was 15 I got MB's Heroquest which was made by GW and pretty much the ancestor of WHQ. a year later I got advanced heroquest and also warhammer fantasy battles (WFB).
from there I started working and bought pretty much all the GW stuff, including WHQ when it first came out at £40, swiftly increasing to £50 when GW realised what a bargain this was!
I'd already started playing dungeons and dragons by this stage.
I got to around 23-24 when I decided I had to make a decision between miniature gaming and tabletop roleplaying and decided for the latter due to costs.
so although I'd played WFB, 40K, necromunda, mordheim, man o war and all that stuff I set it aside and it gathered dust.
I focused on dungeons and dragons, deadlands, some of the world of darkness games.
I've played all editions of D&D except the most recent one....
but WHQ is still a game I return to, normally I use it as a gateway to RPG's because it is easy to pick up and play without having to worry about roleplaying.
I play 2 games of D&D presently, been trying to arrange another ongoing WHQ game for a while but other things are dominating my time like work but also my other great hobby which is LARP (live action role play) which involves dressing up as characters and whacking each other with rubber swords (lol)
that has taken up a considerable amount of my time for the past 8 months or so making armour, weapons and other kit.
on the side I write my own adventures for my D&D sessions and WHQ characters and rules to make dungeons more interesting.
I also play computer/games console RPG's with my favourites being elder scrolls and fallout games purely for the exploration angle: an element of RPG's which is very hard to explore!
from Diablo 3 I've written a witch doctor character which is also what our current larp characters are based upon (myself a good friend and my wife play in this group)
anyway essay over.
--- most of my posts may run into essay length. I find that for a lot of queries/feedback context is important and that is why this happens more often than not.
have a great day :D

Re: Introductions Please
Greetings, fellow Questers!
As (arguably) the biggest fan of Warhammer Quest, i have spent the past decade collecting every official component that was ever released for the game. (Much to wife's torment.)
I enjoy creating official-looking custom content and you can access my board with all the content here:
Warhammer Quest Customized (Littlemonk)
I also manage the Warhammer Quest fanpage on Facebook:

You can read more about my obsession with this game on BoardGameGeek:

I also love collecting Citadel Miniatures. You can see a sampling on my custom board.
ENJOY!

Re: Introductions Please
Hello All,
I am new to the Warhammer Quest board game, but I am not new to adventuring, questing and having fun.
At 48 I'm the biggest kid at home, besides my two boys (12 and 14). We have been collecting and playing board and card games for the past 5 years with and emphasis on D&D style, fantasy and a few forays into space.
We are all avid video gamers (console and PC) from MineCraft to Skyrim and beyond (for me that is..)
We are all fans of the Warhammer world, especially the exploits of Gotrek and Felix.
I have been searching for a customizable dungeoneering game like WHQ without the need for heavy duty D&D style preparation. After all, its all about the journey and I want to play too
I came across this site a few days ago while searching and groaning over the prices on eBay for a used copy of WHQ. I'm very happy to see so much offered here. Perhaps now I'll swollow the bitter pill and go for it on eBay.
Hoping this finds you all in good health, good spirits and especially good humor.
Kindest regards,
Tim

Re: Introductions Please
Welcome Tim!
for me as the normal DM of our group the ability to have the dungeon unfold at the roll of the dice/flip of the card is the beauty of WHQ.
one of my two D&D games is winding up right now and I intend to replace it with WHQ fortnightly instead: digital age makes this easy too as you just take a mobile pic of the board positions and models and you can pack it all away ready for the next session

Re: Introductions Please
Hi all,
WHQ is what I consider my 2nd favorite game (favorite is HeroClix where I make custom epic scenarios and put the characters through WHQ-style dungeons), but I've had a hard time finding time and the right people to play with lately.
I'm planning on looking through the forum in 2016 since I would like to get some pro-looking cards made and this team has great resources.
I no longer use the moniker BassJam anywhere else, so you can find me on gaming sites like Steam as Kragnorak and I'll be joining the FaceBook fan site that LittleMonk created as Art Franklin, which is also the name my characters and rule ideas are under at the Warhammer Quest Museum.

Re: Introductions Please
And will you be joining Beyond the Grey Mountains too?
It is a WEB site that is just over a year old dedicated to WhQ.
Old Warrior introduced a thread here about it last year before he left us on his "quality of life" journey.

Re: Introductions Please
Hello all,
My name is Todd and I am new to warhammer quest but not gaming in the warhammer world. I started off playing the WFRPG when it came out years ago, loved it and got into warhammer fantasy battles because of it. I had heard of warhammer quest but never seen it till just lately on the web. Managed to find and affordable copy off of ebay and am slowly getting the rest of the official material as I come across it. I look forward to participating in discussions of this game with you all and look forward to getting to know you and hearing from you.
Cheers,
Todd

Hi I'm an italian gamer. I play WHQ since 1995! I'm still a fan of this great game. After Warhammer Quest Silver Tower I decided to start a new campaign of this classic....
