Re: Introductions Please

Hi there!

I am late to the WHQ party, having got rid of my original unplayed set a few months ago during a house move... emoticon

I didn't realise the game was a classic, so am now rebulding it via eBay and printing components!

It is amazing that there is still a strong community for this game. I look forward to getting immersed and getting my kids to play this as soon as they are old enough!!!!

I am from brazil (i guess i lack creativity with my forum nicknames!)

I am a fan of Warhammer since early 2000s, got into it due to the Warhammer 40k videogames and shortly afterwards i discovered the Fantasy setting.

Sadly since GW doesnt have any presence in my country, i have mostly just enjoyed the videogames and actual table (and virtual) RPG sessions in the Warhammer Fantasy universe.

For Warhammer Quest itself, i found out about it earlier this year, when i watched some youtube videos of it, afterwards i decided to buy the Warhammer Quest videogame on Steam and fell in love with the whole thing, i am hopeful i can find a group to play the tabletop version soon emoticon

Re: Introductions Please

Hi everyone, my names Terry, I’m 59, live in London UK and I started at the age of about 16 with Talisman Edition 2. Although I’ve had many on and off breaks from the gaming scene, every time I’ve ever walked past a Games Workshop window my eyes would always be drawn in to those excellently painted miniatures in their display cases trying not to be spotted by members of staff, as not knowing rules for the up to date games were not existent, as I’ve only ever played the old games.

To prove this, I have Indomitus below my games table and all I’ve ever done is remove the film, lift the lid, smell the contents with a quick glance and slide the lid back on. I’ve also got the latest Necromunda BIG box and all I’ve done to that is assemble everything, prime it all and that’s it, it’s all back in the box. My reasons for this is GW’s brilliant sales videos, but now I’ve decided on a much better and financially friendly plan. I do also have Warcry but surprisingly I have played that quite a lot, mainly because it’s a quick skirmish game and easy to learn.

For my financially friendly plan, I’ve decided to uncover and dust off my games from the good old days which consist of: Talisman 4th Edition with all 14 expansions, Warhammer Quest, Advanced Heroquest, Silver Tower (which I’ve never played yet since owning it over the past few years). Also Blackstone Fortress with all expansions which I know it’s not old, but just letting you know that this is my main game that I love to play. I’m extremely lucky with a 6’0” x 4’0” gaming table in my conservatory as well as extra space for my compressor and spray booth.

At present I’m going through these old time games and reminding myself of the rules by playing 5 or 6 games and then the next game and so on. I have a lot of my time free at the moment apart from hospital visits, as I have cancer and heart failure, so gaming is what occupies my mind most of the time.

Once COVID shuts downs are a thing of the past, I’d love to attend a gaming club/get together, as playing solo all my life is great, but sharing my enthusiasm around the gaming table, would be really great

Re: Introductions Please

i loved advanced heroquest, as unbalanced as it was, i regret throwing out the board game in entirety as the tables were useful for dungeon creation.

when i played DnD regularly i used them to create odd dungeons which just sprawled on and on as i found it more useful than drawing them myself.

Re: Introductions Please

Cheers everybody!

My name is Kim, which (usually) is a males name in Denmark, which is where I live - Copenhagen to be more exact. I reckon a lot of the members are US based, so let me further add that its a small cold country in Scandinavia.. Ok, Europe then ;P

I have an official age of 40, a physical age of 74 and a mental age equalling my son who is 6.

I started with Heroes Quest and D&Ds around 1992 and shortly after progressed into warhammer and warhammer 40k When WHQ was released in 1995, my friend acquired a copy and we didnt see much sunlight for many years hereafter. The amount of sunlight exposure didnt increase after we started on Necromunda and Blood Bowl either..

My favorite characters/armies/teams has always been Wood Elves, though all other elves as well as anything related to Chaos also makes the right places tickle...

In 2017ish, I found a copy of WHQ for sale, which I instantly bought without even knowing if anyone would crawl dungeons with me. As it turned out, two of my childhood friends - one which I hadnt talked to for almost 20 years - was overly excited by my recent purchase, and we ended up playing that same night until 4 in the morning. Even though our party wiped twice the first night of play, we are today on our 3rd year of revisited play and meet for WHQ 3-4 times per month.

COVID made us switch arena to tabletop simulator, resulting in two parallel questing party sessions:

Party IRL: Wizard (lvl 7), Troll Slayer (lvl 7), Pit Fighter (lvl 7) and War Dancer (lvl 7).
Party TTS: Chaos Warrior (lvl 2), Dwarf (lvl 4), Witch Hunter (lvl 4) and Elf Ranger Mage (lvl 4).

Looking forward for many years in this brilliant, and hopefully still active forum, and even more party wipes!

Kind regards,
An Elf Ranger of Dubious Repute

Re: Introductions Please

Hi
My name is Adam, I often use the character name Egor Rotneck in various games I play. Im live in Gosport in England. I got into fantasy gaming at a youngish age (9) when my mum gave me a copy of 'warlock of firetop mountain' and an advanced dungeons and dragons book that she picked up from a charity shop. I have never played warhammer quest but it seems easier than ever to try it now so here I am. I did buy a copy of heroquest from a charity shop for £3 about 18 years ago and me and my brother and friends played it all the time. I have a notebook full of ideas for a dungeon crawl game inspired by heroquest that I compiled over the years and I found it again recently. It looks to me like Warhammer Quest is closer to what I thought heroquest could be with improvements. Im looking forward to exploring some dungeons and reigniting the feeling I used to get from the fighting fantasy books and fantasy games.

Welcome Adam, I hope you love WHQ as much as I do emoticon

Warlock of Firetop Mountain was also my first fantasy experience. I'm not sure how I came across is, I think my parents bought me a second hand spectrum 64 and one of the games the previous owner chucked in was a combined WoFM book and cassette box set. Needless to say, the book was far better than the stick man computer game.

Howdy all, thanks for accepting my request to join. I grew up playing Heroquest and eventually Warhammer Quest 1995. I’m excited to check out the content on this site and help anyone out where I can. I currently own WHQ 1995 and both expansions. I do not have any of the hero packs and was looking to see where/if there were any pdf’s with the original hero’s.
I own Gloomhaven, DD adventure systems, Sword and Sorcery, altar quest and other dungeon crawls but always return to the classics.

Hi everyone!

I'm from the Netherlands , father of 4 cildren and 49.
I normally do modelbuilding, diorama building, but played this game 20 odd years ago a few times.

I just started painting my 20+ year old warhammerqeust miniatures. Well the rest of it. The Barbarian, the elf,the dwarf, the wizzard, the wardanser, and the orcslayer i painted them 20+ years ago, and a few monsters.
i post it all on instagram so if you want you can watch it there.

i'm glad i found this board.
