Value (cost) of magical abilities

Is there somewhere in Warhammer (battle or RPG) a table or indicator how to determine the value of a particular magic ability?

In The Lair of Orc Lord there is a chance to get generated magic weapon with a value +200G per ability (with +/-1 bonuses)

E.g.: Relic Blade (+1 to hit, 400G) versus Ensorcelled Blade (+1 to hit, 150G).
Just an inconsistency? Should they both be worth [sword price]+200G?

If I was to made my own treasure items, how much would they be worth?

Re: Value (cost) of magical abilities

I don't think I have all the answers about this. Here are a few points I would like to make though.

1. Assigning value to any treasure is a fairly subjective activity. In other words, people have to use their own judgment in the absence of any specific standard of value. Certainly one could decide to go with the value system that you mention from the Lair of the Orc Lord expansion, but as you point out, the other official treasures do not agree with the same standard.

2. Remember that the stated value of treasures is their sell value. If they could be purchased at shops in a settlement, they would likely have much higher values assigned to them.

3. In part it seems to me that some of the treasures were assigned a value based upon how the people of the Warhammer world would value them. This is why I think they gave a Relic Blade a higher value. It is a relic -- having greater antiquity perhaps(?) than an Ensorcelled Blade.

4 (not serious). I think we need an official Appraiser of Warhammer treasures to help with this question. emoticon

Re: Value (cost) of magical abilities

most of the items have a linked value per the cost in warhammer fantasy battles (but not all).

similarly the vast majority of the monsters are worth 10 gold per 1 point they are in WFB too.

(orc 5.5 points, 55 gold. skeleton 8 points, 80 gold. dragon 450 points, 4500 gold etc.)

I think they changed Relic blade effect from WFB to WHQ but left the ensorcelled iron sword the same effect (cannot remember exactly the Relic blade effect, I think it was +1 to hit and penalty to armour save or maybe no save except for magica armour?) and the Relic blade was worth more points in WFB.

(there are some oddities like daemon points versus gold are not the same, why Bloodthirsters are 8000 gold but the other greater daemons are all a lot less, later you bought the daemons casting ability at a value of 50 points per caster ability, adding a maximum of another 200 points, which would equate to 2000 gold, bringing them almost to the same level. also ghosts I give a value of 300 gold because in WFB they were 30 points and in WHQ they have no gold value. annoying considering they do chill damage which is insta-kill!)

most of my posts may run into essay length. I find that for a lot of queries/feedback context is important and that is why this happens more often than not.

have a great day :D
